OMAHA, Neb. — Creighton Volleyball’s Sept. 7 match against Iowa State will be televised statewide by NET Television. It’ll mark the second telecast in as many nights by NET of Bluejay Volleyball, as the network previously committed to broadcasting CU’s Sept. 6 match against Nebraska from CHI Health Center Omaha.
Both contests will also have a free webcast available worldwide.
Creighton went 26-7 last season while winning a fourth straight BIG EAST regular-season and tournament title, and finished the year ranked 16th in the AVCA poll. Creighton returns eight letterwinners in 2017, including Iowa natives Megan Ballenger (Ankeny), Samantha Bohnet (Council Bluffs), Megan Sharkey (Bettendorf) and Jaali Winters (Ankeny). Winters, along with outside hitter Taryn Kloth and libero Brittany Witt were named Preseason All-BIG EAST on Monday. The Sept. 7 contest will mark Creighton’s first regular-season match of the fall at D.J. Sokol Arena, where the Bluejays are 101-26 all-time since its 2009 opening.
Iowa State was 22-7 last season under the direction of Omaha native Christy Johnson-Lynch, making a 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Cyclones feature three Preseason All-BIg 12 selections in libero Hali Hillegas, outside hitter Jess Schaben and middle blocker Grace Lazard and are picked to finish third in the Big 12 Conference this fall.
Creighton is ranked 13th in the preseason AVCA poll that was announced on Wednesday, while Iowa State is 21st. The Bluejays lead the all-time series against the Cyclones, 5-4, but has not hosted ISU since 2008.
