The dinner — a fundraiser for the university’s NCAA D-III athletic teams — will feature former longtime Penguins broadcaster Paul Steigerwald, who now works in the Penguins’ front office; NHL Hall of Famer and six-time Stanley Cup winner Bryan Trottier; and former Penguins-player-turned-analyst Colby Armstrong, who scored the first goal in the outdoor Winter Classic.
Their freewheeling discussion about all things hockey will include audience questions and will be moderated by ESPN’s John Buccigross, a Catholic Central High School graduate who frequently covers hockey for the sports network.
At the dinner, four Ohio Valley civic and sports leaders will receive the Baron Club Award.
— Tom Korab. Now retired, Korab was involved in sports and high school education in the Ohio Valley since 1965, having once coached football, baseball, boys’ and girls’ track and girls’ volleyball. He was the head coach of the 1971 Catholic Central football team that won the Ohio Class AA state championship.
— Gary Kessler. The owner of Steel Valley Tank, Kessler is a business leader and longtime supporter of sports, education, Historic Fort Steuben and community events, including the Steubenville High School summer football camp.
— The Rev. Jason Elliot. Pastor of First Westminster Presbyterian Church in Steubenville, Elliott has been involved in youth ministry, the EDGE Sports Youth Basketball League and other community outreaches for the past 20 years.
— Dan Enich II. Enich is the director of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center and director of career technical and adult education for the Hancock County School System. In addition to a lengthy career as an educator, he was head baseball and football coach at Weir High School and an area scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Baron Club Awards Dinner will be held at the university’s Finnegan Fieldhouse. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
