Man left broken, racing bike stolen in south Columbus robbery


Columbus police say this black Cervelo bicycle was stolen during an assault in south Columbus on June 21, 2018.

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A central Ohio cyclist is left broken in the street without his bicycle after a robbery in south Columbus.

On June 21, at 8:39pm, Columbus police were called out to the area of South 5th Street and East Barthman Avenue on a report of an unconscious man lying in the street.

The man was suffering several broken ribs and had other broken bones in his face. Police did not release how the man sustained his injuries, but the victim’s black Cervelo bicycle was missing when law enforcement arrived.

The missing bicycle, pictured above, is black with the word “Cervelo” painted along the crossbar. Police say the bike is worth several thousand dollars.

Police have not released any information about a possible suspect, but are asking for the public’s help to find the missing bike.
