Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul are now staring at bans from the BCCI after they were suspended by the board on Friday. A six-member committee will now probe the matter and will take a decision on the punishment to be imposed on the duo. They are not allowed to take part in any of the tournament organised by BCCI, ICC or state associations of BCCI, which means that there can also miss out on IPL action if they are banned for a few months.

But will this see them miss World Cup 2019 as well.? “So it be,” Diana Edulji, a member of Committee of Administrators told The Mumbai Mirror. The former Indian women’s team skipper has continued her strict stance on Pandya and Rahul. Should the committee ban both the cricketers for a long period, they would miss 10-team tournament as well. (Also Read: Will Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul play IPL 2019?)

“Nobody is bigger than the game. Nobody is bigger than the institution. There is a code of conduct, things are mentioned in the contracts. You need to follow these rules and regulations. Every player must understand his or her responsibility. Such loose talk gave a bad name to the BCCI and we had to correct it. Of course, we’re (calling them back). They have to return; what will they do there in Australia? They have not gone for a holiday. They have been suspended,” she was quoted as saying by The Mumbai Mirror.

Vinod Rai, COA chairman, had recommended a ban of two matches for both the players but Edulji wanted a strict action and has been the case, they have been called back to India and look set to be banned or fined by the committee. If banned for a long period, they might also miss the Indian Premier League that starts on March 23.

Both the cricketers drew flak for their comments on the talk show Koffee with Karan. Pandya talked about women and his comments were deemed to be sexist. He was the one who drew the maximum flak.

While this wasn’t the case with Rahul, he revealed a dressing room secret and talked about how he partied till the morning of the match assuming that he will not be part of the playing XI. He was included in the team and scored a century later.
