Football returned in a big way Sunday as we were glued to our couches once again with the sweet sounds of Scott Hanson’s voice on the RedZone alerting us to everything that we needed to be alerted to while trying to spill too much food on our shirts.
There was a lot going on Sunday. Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys looked fantastic. Lamar Jackson was ridiculous in the Baltimore Ravens’ rout of the hapless Miami Dolphins. And Patrick Mahomes looked even better than he did last year, which is just crazy.
Let’s have some fun and take a look at at all the good, the bad, and the hilarious from Sunday’s Week 1 action.
Best job of a QB making fun of his own bad no-look pass: Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes tried a no-look pass to Travis Kelce, who was wide open in the end zone, but the pass came nowhere near his star TE. A free lunch would be a nice gesture here by the QB.
Best throw by a 42-year-old QB: This one by Tom Brady.
Looks like Brady might still have it. Though I bet Max Kellerman disagrees.
Most dramatic exit after being ejected: Myles Jack.
The Jaguars’ linebacker was tossed in the second quarter after throwing a punch at a member of the Chiefs and my lord, dude, hold it together while being escorted off the field!
Most interesting wardrobe: Cam Newton.
Worst stat for a QB: This one for Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The journeyman QB who started for the awful Dolphins now owns the record for throwing an INT for a eight different NFL teams. Congrats! Gonna be a long season in Miami.
Worst job of stopping a 3rd and 17: San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers won the game but how in the world did they give up a first down on this play? What in the world was their defensive coordinator thinking with this formation?
Worst job of protecting your QB: J.R. Sweezy.
I’ve never been an offensive lineman but I have to assume that’s not what you’re supposed to do.
Meanest thing to do after a sack: C.J. Mosley.
Mosley had a little fun letting Buffalo’s Josh Allen know that he just sacked him. But the Bills had the last laugh as they rallied for a 17-16 win.
Best shot at those who thought you couldn’t be a NFL QB: Lamar Jackson.
Jackson threw for 324 yards and 5 TDs in Baltimore’s 59-10 win over the Dolphins. Yeah, he’s gonna be OK at QB.
Best take on the Browns after beating the browns: Delanie Walker.
Walker wasn’t impressed with the overhyped Browns after Tennessee’s 43-13 win in Cleveland. RIP, Dennis Green.
Most interesting mouthguard: D.K. Metcalf.
So is this rookie hazing or something?
The best photo of a QB celebrating a TD right before it happens: Dak Prescott.
The Cowboys’ QB knew Jason Witten would walk into the end zone for his 69th career TD.
Worst dance moves by a QB: Kirk Cousins.
You need to work on these moves, Kirk Cousins.
Worst pass coverage by a professional football team: Arizona Cardinals.
How in the world does someone get that wide open in an NFL game? This game ended in a tie, which was fitting.
Best catch of the day: Malik Hooker.
I mean, that ball just stuck the Colts DB’s hand. Incredible interception.
Kyler Murray had a priceless reaction to Tramaine Brock’s dropped interception
Tom Brady had a classic response when told the Patriots were getting Antonio Brown
Report: Multiple Dolphins players called their agents to ask for trades after blowout loss
