Chittenden County residents should be on the lookout for F-35 jets flying overhead on their commute back home.
The Vermont Air National Guard will conduct night flight operations over the next two weeks. From Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Friday, Nov. 22, “area residents may see and hear F-35 A aircraft taking off and landing from Burlington International Airport,” according to a press release from the Vermont National Guard.
F-35 night operations are expected to be completed before 8 p.m. Previous flight training has occurred four days per week, between Tuesday and Friday.
The F-35 jets typically train during the morning and afternoon, but during the fall and winter months, the Vermont Air National Guard wants to take advantage of earlier hours of darkness.
“158th Fighter Wing pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct night operations for Air Force and Major Command proficiencies.”
